Sylvia's birth was registered in Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1930 so I would think this is unfortunately likely her death

Name: Sylvia Anne Shanks
Birth Date: 26 Jul 1930
Date of Registration: Mar 2005
Age at Death: 74
Registration district: Chelmsford
Inferred County: Essex
Register Number: D9G
District and Subdistrict: 468/1D
Entry Number: 291

She was on the electoral roll with Robert until 2005

Robert is still at that same address on the 2017 electoral roll

This is his contact info

He is in his 80s so possibly a letter rather than a telephone call out of the blue might be a good first contact method.

Unfortunately he is not your relative but his children may be pleased to know of cousins :-)

Yes, you've got it,don't know if you are on facebook, but if you are get my name up and look at the photos.Don't know much about the Bolam ancestors, but Robert Winter Storey married Annie Bolam, my mothers parents and therefore my grand parents. There was Mary Bell Bolam, married William Anderson and Wilhelmina (Minnie) and John. Now I don't know how they ended up in Coventry, but that is where the parents of Annie died (34 St Augsburgs road) The Sylvia born in Coventry is the relation. I believe John married Jessie and they lived in Derby area.
Thank you.

If the Warwickshire marriage is the correct one, they had two children born in Coventry, 1958 and 1960.

You can find the details on FreeBMD.

The son may have married in Coventry in 1987

However, having now looked for Sylvia's birth, it seems that even though her father was in Newcastle in 1911, there was a birth of a Sylvia A Bolam in Coventry, Warwickshire in 1930, so maybe the Shanks marriage is correct .

There were two Sylvia Bolams (no middle initial) born in Newcastle, 1936 and 1937.

What was Sylvia's mother's name, please? Including maiden surname, if possible.

The father of the Sylvia born in Coventry was a John Bolam and her mother's surname was Gutteridge.

The marriage you mention for Sylvia was probably in Warwick in 1955, although FreeBMD queries the place.

There were a couple of marriages of women called Sylvia Bolam (with no middle initial given) in Newcastle upon Tyne, which might seem more likely.
One in 1955 to Ronald Swales, and on in 1958 to James Thompson.

EDIT:
Also one in 1968 to William Robson.

Why do you think she married Robert Shanks? Is it just because of her middle initial?

Looking for decendants of John Bolam, Sylvia A believed to have married Robert D Shanks of Essex. Sylvia was born around 1930's.
John was the brother of my grandmother Annie, and his other sisters were Mary Bell and Minnie.
Anyone got any info ?
