Thanks folks

I noticed the long closure period but wondered if it was just my access. U will try and get her last address. Unfortunately. the last person to be in touch with her as fallen out with everyone. I will try the police and an add in the paper

Yes - it's possible the 'Ask a Librarian' service (on-line) 'NSW State Library' will check electoral rolls from when she turned 18 (1992+) until marriage (1999). They MAY find/connect her with sister 'Julie' at same address.
Worth a try.

They MAY suggest an 'ad' in NSW newspaper/s i.e. 'Sydney Morning Herald' - used to have column for seeking 'missing friends' etc.

Australian BM&D records are not freely available. They have a long 'closure' period. It's all part of their policy of protecting the privacy of living people.

Do you have an Australian address for her from when you lost contact? It's possible that the NSW 'ask a librarian' service could trace it forward.

That is what someone else suggested as well,

Is there anywhere where I could search marriage records? I know there will be hundreds but it would be worth a start?

Maybe the NSW police would pass your contact details on to her? Presumably they will still have staff records for her even if she has now left the police.

Hi there

I am trying to get in touch with an ex-colleague/friend who went back to Australia several years ago, and this is going to be like searching for a needle in the haystack but I need to start somewhere.

What is the best website to search Australian records, I have tried ancestry to see if I can find her birth records had no results what so ever, I thought I would be inundated.

Her name is Denise Bennett, born approx. 1972-1974, she came from the Sydney area an had a younger sister called Julie. Denise went back to Oz in about 1999 and joined the police force in Sydney and married one of her work colleagues.

As I said, needle in the haystack but has anyone any ideas where I can start? I
