Lesley was adopted So not her birth name, she made contact back in 2003/4 with her birth mother and her much older half sister. After meeting just the once the birth mother died, and the half sister never made contact to tell her, now the much younger half sister wants to make contact with Lesley she only found out about Lesley in 2007/8 and was so upset to have been left out of the reunion.

Was she still Reeves when she made contact or was she married?

You should be able to figure out her birth name if you know her mother's details and then you can see if she's on this site.

Her adopted name is Lesley Reeves, she was not married when she made contact so was still reeves in 2002/3, she lived in Bexley heath in 2002/3 she had 3 sons The eldest was Terry born we think 1980 and 2 more a lot later after, we do not think she married either of the fathers. But may have gone on to marry by now. We were hoping to find her adopted mother and fathers first names plus her sister. In view to getting information about Lesley's whereabouts'..

as best I can follow this ...

your friend is the daughter of 'Alice' and 'Bob'

your friend's older half-sisters ('X' who became Lesley, and younger sister 'Y') are the daughters of 'Bob' and 'Carol'

Lesley's older half-sister is the daughter of 'Carol' and 'Ted'

'Carol' is the birth mother Lesley contacted in the past

is that how it goes?

or I may be wrong, the 'much older half-sister' and 'younger half sister' of Lesley may both be daughters of the same parents, with Lesley having the same father and a different mother ... I'm sorry but the relationships are very confusing ...

Your friend knows who 'Bob' (your friend's father?) and 'Carol' (Lesley's birth mother?) are - ?

so ... as Rose says ... using Lesley's parents' surnames you can look for births at

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

but the births may be too recent, if so you would need to search at Ancestry

even if you don't subscribe to Ancestry you can do that search free, go here

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/group/uk_bmd

and do an 'exact search' (make sure 'Match all terms exactly' at the top is checked off) for births - in 1962 - with Bob's surname - and Carol's surname

(you have given two different years of birth here for Lesley, 1960 and 1962)

I did an exact search for births in 1962 surname Smith with mother's surname Jones and got 118 results, showing the names and counties

unless their names really are Smith and Jones you should be able to identify Lesley's birth in 1962

then you can do a similar exact search for births in, say, 1965 +/-2 yrs or 1968 +/-2 years if that doesn't work, with the same surnames, to find Lesley's younger sister

(I am suggesting that you do all this yourself so you don't have to reveal names here)

then as Rose says you can search for her in trees at this site, for example

with the info about Lesley's son, I am sending you some information privately for contacting a person who seems likely to be him

Joonie, where did you come up with the names Bob and Carol, and Carol and Ted.

The friend I am helping is named Anita, She is looking for her half sister that was adopted at birth. Named Lesley Carol Stevens mothers maiden name Moon. 1962.

Lesley was adopted by a couple called Reeves.
In or around 2003/4 Lesley made contact with her birth mother and older half sister they met with her just the once.

In 2007 My friend was told about this meeting, she had no idea that Lesly was alive as she was only 8 when Lesley was born and was told that her mother had given birth and the baby died the next day ( shocking ) since finding out that Lesley is alive My friend has really want to make contact with her. That's where I have come in to see what I can find for her.

She is no longer at the Address she was in, in 2003, In Bexley heath, she may have gone on to marry since that date.

I was hoping to find Mr and Mrs Reeves first names plus they had another adopted daughter her name could be helpful in my search.

Any help of Ideas gladly appreciated.

Regards
Diane.

Looking at British Phone Books, 1880-1984 stating Reeves and Peckham, there are entries for 2 people. Sometimes the listings gives their occupation. These one's don't.

Name: N P Reeves
Address: 8 Old Rd E
Exchange: Peckham
City/Town: Peckham
Directory Title: Canterbury Oct
Publication Year: 1980
Directory County: Kent
Page Number: 659

C C Reeves
Address: 4 Drage Rd ....
Exchange: E Peckham
Directory Title: Canterbury May
Publication Year: 1975
Directory County: Kent
Page Number: 520

How about contacting the local library/local studies centre to see if they have the equivalent of the Yellow Pages or a commercial directory? If you're lucky there might be an entry for a Mr Reeves, Fishmonger.

patchem Report 10 Apr 2016 14:07

I was also searching telephone directories, but concentrating on fishmongers.

As regards N P Reeves, there is a marriage for a Norman P Reeves in 1943 in Bromley, if that is of use.

Quite a few C C Reeves around.

Added: Not Norman P Reeves married 1943, as died young.

Diane, the names I used are in quote marks because they are made up ... Alice, Bob, Carol ... A, B, C, ... and Bob & Carol &Ted &Alice is the name of a movie ...

it was extremely difficult to follow what you had said and I was trying to sort it out by 'naming' the people involved

Your reply to my private message does not indicate whether you might actually try making contact with the person I suggested.

Diane

Diane Report 10 Apr 2016 16:18

I am trying to get as much information as possible and as many names of people to contact before passing all the names and address's to my friend. She can then drop a line to them all.
Thanks again for your help Joonie. :-)

It would have been best for you to tell us what you already had, in the first place, Diane, since I did spend time finding the info about Terry that it seems you had already found yourself and I would not be surprised if others had done the same.

When there appears to be a perfectly good way to make contact, i.e. through him, it doesn't really make sense to have people searching around for other methods before trying that one.

Diane

Diane Report 11 Apr 2016 14:43

Yes, I can see now that I may have wasted peoples time, I am very sorry.

In my first post I was hoping to find the name of Mr and Mrs Reeves plus the others sister to make contact, I am not sure you see how much the sons know about the adoption. I was hoping only to contact the sons if all else failed.

Sorry to all those that feel they have been on a wild goose chase.

Diane.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 11 Apr 2016 18:01

it can indeed be delicate

Perhaps your friend could contact the son just to ask that her contact info be passed on to his mother, saying something like she is family member who would like to get back in touch ... she remembered seeing a picture of him as a child so she was able to find his contact info on the internet ... ?

Your friend's name would ring a bell with Lesley if she knows of her adoption details so she would know the message was from a member of her birth family, without your friend having to tell the son.

Diane

Diane Report 12 Apr 2016 18:31

I have now made contact with her eldest son. My number will be passed to Lesley very soon.

Thank you all again for the help given.

Kind regards
Diane.
