Julie can you explain exactly what/whom you are looking for?

is it Alfred's ancestors, or are you hoping to find children he had outside his marriage?

if it is those children you would like to find, it will be very difficult (if not impossible) unless they were registered under his surname ... which is probably unlikely if he was not present for the registration and consenting ... and his surname is so very common that even if a child was registered with that name, only the birth certificate would identify him as the father, and there would be hundreds of possible candidates

if there were children and they know who their father was, they might look for him through internet searches or in online family trees

make sure you have him in a tree at this site and anywhere else you belong, and search trees at this site and elsewhere for his name

and maybe add a 'postem' to his birth and marriage records at freebmd

using an anonymous online email address (like at gmail, and not your real name, just an account name along the lines of alfred.wood.family or such) and saying you would like to contact other family members

people one is looking for seldom just show up when one says 'looking for' ... usually one has to look for them :-)
