As you have said that you are ‘still looking’, you’ve probably already done the obvious; you’ve added your name and his to the Adoption Contact Register
https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

Have you used the Search All Member Trees on this site? There are several possible listings, one being a Peter Butcher who has David as 1949 Newcastle-on-Tyne
Don’t limit your search to Durham 1949, but extend it to Newcastle 1949 +/- 1 and Durham 1949 +/- 1.
If you’re not in contact with the tree owners, send a message to them by clicking ‘find out more’ to ask how they are related.
Make sure that you create a tree featuring David and any other known birth relatives. That way if David or a current relative comes looking for his birth family they will be able to make contact.

David’s birth reg is shown on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/
It is possible to leave a brief message on the site asking for contact. Create a dedicated free email address for this, one that isn’t going to alter if you change internet suppliers – eg @gmail.com @hotmail.com etc etc.

Mike believes that Freda was born Barnley reg in 1928 – if you are certain that this is correct, you could leave a similar message against her birth reg on Freebmd, but be tactful in case legitimate children come across the posting. They may not be aware of half siblings.

Just as important – DO NOT DELETE this thread or your account with GR. We’ve seen in the recent past that other family have made an internet search for a relatives name and come upon a thread. As the original poster had deleted their account, there was no way to make contact.

Should you choose not to re-subscribe, or even if you are on the 14 free trial, just allow the account to lapse so that you become a free member. Paying or trial members can still contact you by clicking on your name. Just remember to update your GR account with any change you may make to the linked email address.
…………

As Sandra is a new member, PM sent advising her how to return to her thread – she may not realise that posts have been added.
