Welcome to the boards Jane.

There are couple of trees who list a Paul Elliott 1948 but no place of birth. If the tree owners aren’t already known to you have you contacted them to see if they are referring to your half-brother? Your own tree indicates his birth was registered in the district of Stepney.

There is also a tree giving the birth place as Romford – there is no such registration, at least, not on Freebmd.

As Paul’s birth is shown on Freebmd, its worth adding a post’em (message) asking for anyone currently related to him to contact you. Create a dedicated email address for this purpose such as @gmail, @hotmail etc etc.

Have you registered with the adoption contact register? If not its worth considering
https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

Have you been able to trace the society which arranged his adoption? If so, they may be willing to leave a letter from you on his file.
……….

What ever you do, unless you find him, don’t delete your GR account, even if finances are tight. Just allow the account to lapse to a free version. That way if a current relative chances on the thread in the future, they can still contact you by clicking on your name. Make sure that the email address you have linked to GR is always the one you use, and not dependent on a broadband supplier you may change in the future.
