Actually, although there are over a thousand listed on the 2002-2015 ER (findmypast) there are none in the whole of Yorkshire. Although people could opt out from 2002, that year's entry normally remains on view.

Might they have moved or (for females) married and taken the spouses name?

There is no one with that surname listed in Leeds on the ER 2002-2015, nor anyone who has a land line
