I've been told Merton. However I expanded the search to Kingston, Sutton and Croydon, I found 8 possibles - that's just going on expanding to the immediate areas

Are certain are you Christopher was born in Merton district?

There are 4 births for the scenario he was born in March or April. All the the births suggest the mother was married.

I found possible marriages for 3 of the Christophers and none looks to have had a mother called Shirley. One has the middle initial S.

Amy has told me what she knows of the back story, without divulging any names. We must respect her decision and reasons. xx

The info I have is already posted on here. :( that's all I have hence why it's so difficult. If I had his mother's maiden name then I'd be onto something x

Amy why not inbox Joonie & +++DetEcTive+++ with all the info you have? Neither will post the info on here for all to read.

No one can promise you that they can find Christopher but at least give them a chance.

AmyRio24 Report 26 Sep 2015 19:07

I have sent emails and letters out to those I can find in 1st and 2nd quarter Marh - May 1979 - I extended it to May just to try to cover all grounds.
So far no response on emails or Facebook messages.
Im trying to find out if anyone knew his mum in the area, so have left a message for the pub landlord where they drank back in 1979 - I doubt anything will come from it, butt currently anything is worth a look at

Thank you all for you help, I really appreciate it

Have contacted Amy with some possible births , and been informed Christopher not
adopted and born March/ April 1979 , so birth would be registered first or second
quarter 1979 , and would have same birth surname as mother .

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 26 Sep 2015 05:00

none of the Christopher births registered in Merton in 1979 have the same surname + mother's surname

however there is a birth in the first quarter of 1980 (a birth in late 1979 might be registered early in 1980) that has the same two surnames, initial S

there is one other in that quarter, initial M, registered under mother's surname but also under another surname ... that person has a tree at this website with himself in it

do keep in mind that even if Christopher were one day to come to this site to look for family, there is almost no chance he would ever 'come along' to your thread ... the advanced search facility does not function and a single-word search would never narrow the results enough ... google really is the usual path people arrive here from, and as Detective says that means there have to be enough specifics in the post for a search to distinguish it

understood that you don't feel you can put your father's name here, just keep in mind that this thread will not likely ever be seen

if you know Christopher is looking for your dad and he knows his dad's name, your best bet might be to google your dad's name with other terms like Christopher, father ... possibly he has posted here himself and included that information

one idea might be to delete this thread and post a new one saying simply something like:

if you are looking for [john smith] I would like to meet you; please contact me

and say clearly that you are not looking for any assistance from other members, just putting your request on record in case it is found by a person of interest

I'm not sure that naming your own father (especially without stating even a relationship etc) would cause any legal problems

one thing I might do is go into your account and choose a 'board name' so that your full name is not visible when your name is clicked ... that is always best for privacy, particularly since the person you are looking for would not know your name anyway (click on my name and Detective's for instance)

Fingers crossed he does.
I can't put my fathers name on here as it will be indexed in Google for legal reasons.

And the plot thickens ha! Thank you for your advice / help. Without Christopher's Surname it's just a needle in a haystack.

The suggestion to add your father's surname, if nothing else, is so that it will be picked up in an internet search. Make sure that that your father is on your own tree as that is the obvious way for members to connect.

Hope it works out for you - Just make sure that if you change your main email address, you update your GR account. That way if a Christopher does come along, he can use the PM system to contact you.

AmyRio24 Report 23 Sep 2015 13:48

I don't know his surname. And I don't need to provide my fathers surname. I know he is actively looking and with the fact i know the above information, if he comes along to this page then he will get in touch.

He knows my dads information.

With regards to the information you have posted. I have already done that search but without knowing his surname or his mothers its a dead end.

findmypast gives a total of 209 results, for a Christopher no surname.

On the first page alone for births including Merton reg 1979 there is

CHRISTOPHER NICHOLAS P surname beginning A
CHRISTOPHER KEN surname beginning B
CHRISTOPHER IAN C surname beginnng B

Other pages
CHRISTOPHER JAMES surname beginning C
CHRISTOPHER surname beginning M
CHRISTOPHER JAMES surname beginning M

So which one is he???

Welcome to the boards Amy.

Use the search all members trees to see if any one lists him or your father, then send a message.

You do need to give your fathers name, or at least his surname on this thread. There could be numerous Christopher's born in that year and area!

Were his parents married to each other at the time? If you know his mothers name, then add that as well.

I am looking to reach out to Christopher, born 1979 in Merton.
Your mother's name is Shirley and I know you're looking for my (your) dad.
You probably don't know I exist, but I would be your half sister.

If you're using this to track him down please get in touch.

Thank you
