Excellent service! The National Library got back to me within 24 hours having checked the latest (2008) electoral roll for the whole country. Sadly no result for me but a great resource to know about :-)

Thanks everyone I'm looking for a relative who may have gone to Australia in 2001. I have tried white pages but as I don't have any idea which state there are too many. I will check the National library has that looks like the best option. Thanks so much

The 'National Library of Aus' (Canberra) (on-line) has the 'Ask a Librarian' service -they will check electoral rolls - past and present -for ALL States.

(Each State's own Library offers same excellent service - if not sure of which State -the 'National' covers ALL.)

Ancestry have selected years to 1980 if that helps?

After then you'd have to contact the relevant States Ask A Librarian service. They may, or may not, help. Laws on a persons privacy are far more strict than in the UK.

Have you tried the Australian White Pages? That's the online phone book. .whitepages.com.au
