robert Report 6 Aug 2015 11:25

looking for a Duncan Fergus Crawford or anyone that may have known this person, believed to be in his late seventies. He is supposedly tied in some way to the Crawford Biscuit Family. His daughter is seeking information on her father.

we have been told that he may have perished in a motor accident, but that may not be so.

regards Bob Findlay

This sounds familiar - do you or your contact have another thread about him? Sussex/Brighton area were mentioned.

If there isn't, I apologise

There doesn't seem to a birth for him 1930-1955 on
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Might he have been born in Scotland? Most interent results for Crawford Biscuits tend to lead back there.

To be fair, this thread is about Duncan Fergus Crawford; the other ones kindly retrieved by JoonieCloonie were mainly about Ian Crawford and/or people who knew him.

So where does Duncan fit in?? Please post a reply on the relevant thread, probably this one (although you didn't acknowledge the posts)

I expect the other threads were by way of finding info about Duncan based on the last known facts about him ...

if that person's whereabouts is the real question, that is the person who should be asked about

asking about somehow-related people generally just sends other members off on wild goose chases

No birth in Scotland with those names--1930--1950,,,,,,,unless Fergus is the wrong middle name.?

It would take a lot of research &cost to try and connect Duncan to the biscuit dynasty line........every Crawford seems to belive they are part of that Crawford clan. :-D

Obviously I am not doing something right so I will study the way GR works and try to play by the rules. We were initially looking for a Ian Crawford but have been now informed that my wife's father is actually called Duncan Fergus Crawford. My apologies if I am not doing the right thing by the people who are trying to help. My wife is only looking for information on her dad, information that her mother refuses to disclose.

sorry, Kind regards Bob Findlay

Robert,
Is there anymore details that you can put forward that wont compromise anyones ID....any area in Scotland or family names.?

Although there isnt a registered birth showing in Scotland for that exact name,it doesnt mean he wasnt born there,,,,,,,,,,,the only other D F Crawford I can see wont be anywhere in his 70s.

robert Report 10 Aug 2015 07:24

No - sorry. We do not have anymore information. Once again we have been told that his name is Duncan Fergus Crawford, somehow related to the biscuit family and may have died in a motor accident - date unknown. I wont post anymore until I know how to do it properly and when we gain more information.

the only other thing that I have gained from my wife's mother in our search for a Duncan Crawford is - his middle name may be "Gillies" and not "Fergus" as previously informed. he was also married to someone else but sired two children to Margaret - Stephanie and Georgette ( Samoyra.)
kind regards Bob

my apologies to "jooniecloonie" - I am not about sending people on "a wild goose chase" - I am trying to locate information about my wife's father, who she knows nothing about. To those that have taken the time to letting me know how to work GR and to realize that I am obviously new to this system - my heartfelt thanks on behalf of my wife & myself.
kind regards Bob & Georgette Findlay - Tasmania, Australia.

Robert,

I think we're just having a hard time understanding why the information keeps changing.

First of all we were searching for a Ian Crawford who may have had a son called Duncan. Next it was Duncan Fergus and now it's Duncan Gillies. Hopefully, you can see this is a little frustrating for helpers.

thanks Rose,
would it help if I put all the up-to-date information/ the information has changed because initially we were informed that Georgette's fathers name was Ian - but that has now been confirmed as Duncan Gillies Crawford ( I fronted my mother-in-law this morning). She is very vague on his middle name - initially she said she thought it was Fergus but changed that to Gillies. She said that she was informed that this Duncan Crawford was killed in an accident around the Sussex area and she believed it was around the late sixties/early seventies. It is confusing to us also - I think we may be getting told a few half truths.
