I'm shocked................they really should be more discreet

But you have still missed the point about the marriage...................

It could be the way its phrased.
'Is the mother xx?' might get a yes/no reply.
'Can you tell me who the mother is?' might well get a negative response.

As Liam may well still be living, they could be more circumspect. No harming in asking!

Yes they do. I have had lots of information giving to me over the phone by the GRO in Dublin then if it matches I buy the certificate

I'm afraid you are completely missing my point.................

I don't think the GRO will give you the info over the phone. They have to be careful about identity theft

The 1948 birth isn't the only Liam A Carey.

No Carey/Doyle births on FMP

Jacqueline Report 23 Jul 2015 21:17

There is no point in anyone looking for children until you establish whether the marriage is for the right man

A copy of the cert will include father's details

Any births in England/Wales will be found on the site where you saw the marriage

Sorry I forgot to say. He was born in Ireland in 1948 but could find no marriage record there so tried here and I believe I've found one. Was hoping to find if him and his wife had any children at all, they married in Liverpool in 1982
