Just for info -

This was John's OP on his other thread (link posted above by Jacqueline on 14th July) - it gives Francis's brothers' first name initials.

"looking for Francis Thomson brother of Mr wTthomson and my father Mr j Thomson"

at a guess, the 1940 birth and 1960 marriage that ArgyllGran suggests seem the most likely possibility

(there was no Francis C B Thomson birth in England to account for that marriage)

there were several children to the marriage

the first had a distinctive name and married someone with a distinctive name (whose mother, amazingly, had the same name as the Thomson child!)

I will send you some contact info privately

Sorry, John, I don't know what his middle names with initials C B are.

If you contact the person suggested by Kay, hopefully they will reply, and may know what the initials stand for. They may also know his father's name, so that you'll know if he's "your" Francis without the expense of buying the birth and/or marriage certs.

Of course, the birth and marriage may be for two separate people.

John,

The CB I imagine would be others given names probally,

If you use the search trees faciltiy on this site, found by top right,Search,,,,from the dropdown menu--use,Search All Members Trees,,,,,,,,,enter, the person name, year of birth +Glasgow, there is a match for him,,,,click the persons name far right, this enables you to send a direct message to that person,if they still use the email address as when they entered their tree details they will be notified by Genes,,they can reply even if they dont have a current paid membership.

The only Francis Thomson / Thompson birth in Glasgow in 1940:

1940 THOMSON FRANCIS C B
M COLLEGE GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/07 0879

A Francis C B Thomson married in Salisbury in 1961, but whether or not that's him, I couldn't say.
You'd have to buy the certificates to check his father's name.

There were three children born to that couple, in Salisbury, in 1962, 1965, and 1967.
There's another possible birth in Andover in 1961.

You can look up all the English details free of charge on freebmd.org.uk
