Its not a negative statement,, and Failed isnt a word I used,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,freedom of access has done away with a lifetime wait (which may never happen ) for many adoptees,,, and they can bypass all routes of officialdom and undertake the task themselves,,,,,,,and with the failure of Norcap who was the gov first choice of an aproved agency didnt work, they went into admistration because lack of income as more and more by passed them, because of their outlandish costs.

I dont believe your last statement to be true kay. in what way has it failed?

Whilst people are negative about it, it WILL fail, because people wont add themselves to it.

So, upon a payment to an agency if they were to find the name of the adopted person, if they agreed there might be the possibility of an exchange of details?

If so, I guess that would be an option if they had not added their names to the adoption contact register..

In what ways has the government adoption register failed, Kay?

Thank you for your kind reply.

The name is not revealed unless prior consent is given by the adoptee,,,,what you see is a cut down version as to the actual process of contact.and what you see is a service only for birth family, mothers, adoptees and sibling can be concidered,,,,,,charges are often asked for,,,,,,but the TV shows is paid for by the TV show to make a programe.

The gov adoption register has not been a sucess.infact its almost redundant in its performance.

Watching the tv programme linking long lost family, it gives the impression that one is able to find the name of an adopted relative provided one receives the help of a specialist intermediary in adoption.

This seems to go against everything I've believed, that the only way would be to put one's name on the adoption contact register?
