Can you get a copy of Francis death cert ? Maybe the info on it will help trace his family who may know what happened to Michael,

I know Michael had a brother Francis (Frank) he born 1935 and died 2005, it looks as though he spent his whole life in Dublin. Is there anyway to check Irish marriage records free of charge?

I'm wondering if it may be easier to try and trace another family member?

Oh that's a pain. This would have been between 1960-65 so no chance then!

Back to the drawing board, really not sure where to go from here.

Recent ones are virtually non-existent

The survival rate of divorce case files is:

1858-1927: almost 100%
1928-1937: 80%
After 1937 : less than 0.2%

Could anyone tell me please, is there a way to find divorce records?

Thanks Yvonne. I know my mum did try them years ago but the information she had at the time was incorrect (we didn't know this until last year). So I will get in contact and try them again.

Hi Jacqueline, I haven't been able to find a death for him either so hoping he is still alive somewhere.

With such a common name it gives quite a lot of possibilities. I have PM'd a lot the trees that show a possible match to see if they can help at all.

Can't see a death on FMP, so please edit your title

Have you checked for his name etc in search trees?

I am looking for my granddad, my mum hasn't seen him since she 13 and is desperate to try and trace him.

He was born Michael Murphy in June 1934 in Dublin, Ireland. His parents were Michael and Alice, I believe there were several brothers and sisters but I only know there was definitely a brother, Frank.

He married my Nan - Bridget Dowling in December 1955 in Dublin, they later moved to Middlesbrough where my mum was born, Kathleen Murphy August 1957.

My grand parents later separated and the last time my mum saw her dad was when he visited her at boarding school in Kent in 1970/71. At the time he was working as an electrician in the London area.

I have found a copy of his birth certificate and his marriage certificate to my Nan but now I'm lost. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks :-)
