Mother, Bridgit Dawnay born Dublin c 1881.
George Dawnay lived in Sandymount Dublin in the 1950's along with his family, wife and as I recall, 2 sons, George and Tommy and five daughters.

Re the possible marriage that Prickly Holly posted for George in 1925, I think that George married Irene Dennis as there are several Dawnay births with mmn Dennis in Dublin South.

Not seeing an obvious George & Tommy, but there is Eleanor G, Joan C, Monica B, Joseph F, Nuala M, Clare, Sylvia P, Anthony, Jacinta H M, Gertrude, all with mmn Dennis.

Don't like to put birth dates as they may well be still living .

There is this death in England for an Irene Dawnay - might some of the family come over to England??

EDIT: There are marriages on freeBMD for at least 4 of the daughters mentioned in my previous post, in St Pancras Reg District in the 1960s. (possibly 5, one has variant spelling of forename so not sure).

Donal, would you confirm if we have the right family? i assume you woul recognise some of the names.

I have pmed you possible electoral register information for two of the daughters, one in Ireland and one in Scotland, but please bear in mind these are only possbilities.

Many thanks to one and all for your assistance, I think that the George born in York is the grandfather of the Dawnay family who lived in South Dublin with whom I grew up.
