Take it that his dad was previously married so the connection is from the first marriage

Did Robert stay with his parensts ?

If so have you found the deaths of both parents because he could be the informant on the death certs

Have you got their marriage cert to confirm his age

If he died in 1947 then the chances are his wife remarried

Have you confirmed her birth year too

She may have gone back to her former area as there is a possible marriage Bromley in 1950

Look on FreeBMD for the entry

If this was Lydia's birth.

Births Jun 1902
Jarvis Lydia Greenwich 1d 1091

She possible remarried in 1950 to William Medhurst , Bromley reg district and this looks like her death

Name: Lydia Medhurst
Birth Date: 12 Jun 1902
Date of Registration: Jun 1983
Age at Death: 81
Registration district: Bromley
Inferred County: Kent
Volume: 11
Page: 1130

So Robert could be the informant on the death certificate
