Find Living Relatives

Hi, I am looking for any Leigh family members living in the Lymm area. I am travelling to England later this year. I will be going to Lymm for an overnight visit and want to get as much information as I can. I am a descendent of Henry (1810-1886) and Harriet ( 1811-1868) Leigh and their daughter Jane Leigh (1853-1929). Looking forward to meeting family and gaining as much knowledge as I can.

The best way to contact descendents is to use the Search All Member Trees function - top right under 'search' - for the names on your tree. Contact anyone who lists the same as you.

Although some descendents might still live in the area, many would have migrated to other areas of the country in search of work etc.

Hi Linda

A member on Ancestry has a photo of Henry and Harriet's gravestone. Daughter Jane (who didn't marry) is buried with them.

The headstone reads......

In memory of Henry Leigh who died Dec 29th 1886 aged 76 years. Harriet the beloved wife of Henry Leigh of Lymm who died Oct 8th 1868 aged 57 years. Also Jane their daughter who died Dec 24th 1929 age 76 years. At rest.

I have the same information for Henry and Harriet's children. I found more information on all of them on Ancestry. As far as I can see Jane never married and had 3 children Joseph, Lizzie and Henry. I do not know who the father was.

Jane is my 2nd great grandmother and Joseph was my great grandfather.

Have you found marriages or any other information for Jane's other two children Lizzi and Henry?

In case you don't have it.....Jane's daughter Lizzie married Robert William Cheetham in 1903

She appears as Elizabeth on the 1911 census.

Joseph Leigh (son of Jane Leigh) and Ethel May Gable. My grandmother was Julia Ann Leigh. She married Alfred Charles Biggs in Australia.
