Find Living Relatives

If you are absolutely certain that she was adopted out of the family, then assuming you are a birth relative, add your name to the adoption contact register as previously suggested & hope that she has too.

Do you know which social service arranged the adoption? If so, see if they will leave a letter from you on her file. If she was going to access it, she might have already done so. On the other hand, her own family may encourage her if she hasn’t.

A few other things you can do.

- Make sure that she and her birth mothers names are on your tree
- Find her birth reg on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ and add a *post’em* with a throw away email address such as @hotmail.com or @gmail.com That way if Kathleen or a descendent starts researching, they might find your message and be able to email you.
You might also do the same for registrations directly relating to her mother.
- Even if you allow your GR sub to lapse, always make sure that your free account is linked to a current email address. As a free member you won’t be able to send messages, but other people can contact you if, say, they came upon this thread.

75 isn’t that old, but accidents and/or disease could have taken their toll.

To contact btfar42 on Ancestry, click on her name on that thread, then the Contact link in the box that appears. Even though her profile says she hasn’t been active for over a year, a personal message might still get through. As the last post before yours of today was in 2009, she may not expect another reply.

We do wish you well, but apart from getting her birth name on the internet, there is not much that anyone can do to find her.

The other posters call her Beryl but see didn't sign her name and I don't see that in her profile.

Stark, She is not showing in any trees on here and I can't see an obvious marriage, do you know if her mother might have married and Kathleen taken the new surname?
