Yes you have, thanks for pointing that out Joonie :-)

JoonieCloonie Report 16 Feb 2015 23:17

just so everybody else knows, to spare duplicated effort, I provided contact info for family of Cyril/Norman to Linda.

Linda

Linda Report 16 Feb 2015 23:11

Aaah. Think I was barking up the wrong tree there.

I am fairly certain that Dennis died in September 2009 in Lincoln. I have had a pm saying the same. Too many details match :-(

Hoping to find some relatives or offspring

With ref to your earllier 2nd post .....there is a Durham birth for a Dennis Stow.so the marriage you found could be his.?

Linda

Linda Report 16 Feb 2015 23:00

Yes, I know Cyril senior died of TB apparently, Dennis survived it, maybe it took Catherine too eventually.
Don't understand your reference to the Durham electorals and a birth?

Kay????

Kay???? Report 16 Feb 2015 22:47

I would be doubtful the Durham electorals as a birth took place there.so could be a match for him.

They had a terrible run of bad luck with the early ages at death.....poor family.

Linda

Linda Report 16 Feb 2015 22:36

It certainly confirms a few things that have been found!

Thank you so much for taking the time to find this :-)

I have replied to your pm.

I will most certainly take your advice re the nephew.

Thanks again

JoonieCloonie Report 15 Feb 2015 20:42

I've sent you a little more info ... I'd be fairly confident that Cyril = Norman

before making contact you might want to get his birth certificate to check

(although I do find that intrusive in the case of a living person who doesn't know their birth details are being poked into :-) )

but there simply is no Norman Snow to account for that marriage

the 'children of the 1959 marriage' were Norman's ... perhaps you thought I meant Dennis's? ... or did you mean you are familiar with the children of Norman, so you know Cyril=Norman? :-S !

(and yes, the mother's surname for Christine is a typo at Ancestry, if you look at the actual image it is correct)

I would really just contact the person I suggested who seems to be Dennis's nephew ... it doesn't seem to be such early days, if the idea that Cyril = Norman is correct

Linda

Linda Report 15 Feb 2015 19:53

Wow you've been busy .....thank you :-)

The mothers name for Christine is slightly different on here too...assuming is a typo!
I have also come to the conclusion that she married a 'Smith'.

I also think that certainly Cyril was probably adopted as if Dennis went into a children's home, it's a good bet that the others did too, and I can't find any further trace of him. And, there was a lot of Cyrils around then!

Yes, my connection is with Dennis, so I know all about the children of the 1959 marriage! But, thank you anyway.

I can find no trace that Dennis had any further children after those 2.

There were 2 marriages after the 1959 one (1972 and 1989) which may well be him, but no DOB so can't be sure, but still no offspring from those unions that I can find, with the name Stow anyway.

Early days!

Thanks again for looking

sending info privately about children of 1959 marriage

with contact info for one

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 15 Feb 2015 19:28

on the middle name theory ...

a Norman C Stow married in Shardlow 1959

there is no birth to match that name

he lives in Lincolnshire

search here

http://www.freeelectoralroll.co.uk/

and 192.com shows Lincoln as valid for 2015

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 15 Feb 2015 19:19

Christine was Christine A 1942 (mother's surname spelled Hankley at Ancestry)

there is only one marriage for that name in Lincolnshire, unfortunately to Smith ...

Cyril was Cyril N 1939 and there seems to be no further record of him ... I wonder whether he might go by his middle name

could either of the siblings have been adopted do you think?

likely the second husband's death

Name: Leslie E Marriner
Birth Date: abt 1913
Date of Registration: Sep 1949
Age at Death: 36
Registration district: Lincoln
Inferred County: Lincolnshire
Volume: 3b
Page: 235

so yes, the children would have been completely orphaned

your own connection is with Dennis?

Linda

Linda Report 15 Feb 2015 16:54

Cyril was born 1916 and died 1942 aged 26...both in Lincoln.

Catherine is a bit more complicated....not sure which one she is for sure, but the only possible record for remarriage of a Catherine Stow is 1944 to L Marriner. This Catherine M Stow (now Marriner) then died in 1946 aged 24.
The only Catherine M Hanley I can find born in 1922 was from Swansea

I have been told that Dennis grew up in children's homes so this would make sense I guess.

Thank you

patchem

patchem Report 15 Feb 2015 16:02

Do you know when and where Catherine was born, and can you confirm that Catherine and Cyril have both died, and did Catherine marry again?

Thank-you

Linda

Linda Report 15 Feb 2015 15:16

I have found another 2 marriages for Dennis 1972 (Hammersmith) and 1989 (Durham) which I think may be him and is on electoral register in Durham 2013 but can't be sure it's the same person. The first marriage in 1959 (Devon) is definite.

I did see something on t'internet a while ago that he passed away in 2009 but have now found an entry on electoral register in Durham.....gets so confusing!

Thanks for looking :-)

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 15 Feb 2015 15:00

There was a Dennis Stow on electoral registers up to 2009 in Lincoln

Two possible marriages for Christine but both in Lincolnshire so no idea which would be right one

Linda Report 15 Feb 2015 14:43

Brother Cyril and sister Christine.

New at this so hope I have put this in the right place :-)

Thanks
