I have just seen your thread on General chat

If you don't know the surname contact the nearest main library to that address to see if you can find out who was living at that address at the time the letter was sent.

If Mark was born outside of marriage he may not have his fathers name

If he was under 18 at the time the letter was written he wont be on the electorol roll but his mother will be

Thanks jax.
Mark was born out of marriage because my parents never divorced.I will find out the nearest library and ask if they can help me.I live near Wellingborough so i would be unable to go there unless i visit the mother in law who lives in the midlands.

As Evans is the boy's father's surname, it is unlikely (though not impossible) that it is Sandra's

When you say your own parents never divorced, you mean their former spouses? or they never divorced each other, so your father is Mark's father but your mothers are different? could they have had the same surname?

very confusing I'm afraid!

it's just that I'm seeing births with your name and his name and the same mother's surname ...
