If you applied here:

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

They should give you an expected arrival date.

You still need your adoption file though:

Thanks all for your help so far.
I have now applied for my birth certificate which may give me a little more info but I feel this may be quite a long process as I'm a complete novice.

According to the GRO record your first name is spelt Teresa without the H in it

The record should show on FreeBMD.

You can order a copy from

www.gro.gov.uk with the GRO ref

Edit :: ancestry has mistranscribed the spelling looking on the actual typed record it is Theresa . Doesn't help when folks are doing look ups :-(

Have you got your original birth cert? That will give you your mums full name and where you were born

No I haven't got anything yet and don't really know where to start so any advise on how to do this would be really helpful

Have you got your adoption file? That should give you the first name of your mother and may hold other helpful information.

I was adopted as a baby and am searching for any birth relatives.
The only information I have is my name at birth (given in subject title) and the surname of my mother, which was also Crowley.
Any help or information would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
