I don't think Shirley was saying IF he was born on Australia. Her suggestion about adding Australia to your thread heading is a good one!

Shirley. I did state he was born is Sydney.
Valerie, Thank you for the info.. I did not know about the National Library so I will definately contact them. I also did not know about the "Ryerson Index".. You have given me great info to follow up on. Thank you again. <3

Marion - if your brother has been living in Australia - you can ask the 'National Library of Aus' (Canberra) (on-line) -it has an 'Ask a Librarian' service -they will check electoral rolls (past & present).
(they may also check newspaper death notices if given approx date/s and less common names).

(the 'Ryerson Index' (on-line) shows a Raymond George Reid d 16/12/01 age 72yrs 'late of Macquarie Fields' ... fortunately his age doesn't match -so beware if the library sends you this info too.)

If he was born in Australia then adding that to your thread heading may get some response from australian members who can access australian records

He is my brother and I haven't seen him for over 50 years. Any information appreciated. Many thanks
