We are trying to find our sister, Jenny Perks. It is believed she married around 1970, but nothing is showing up on the search. So the question is, which religions would not show up and where could we approach for information.

Where and when was she born? Is she Jenny or Jennifer?

All marriages in England and Wales will have a GRO record

If she married in Scotland then you would need Scotlands People website which is pay to view the record And you can order a cert through the site at £10

Without giving too much of her personal info it would help to know more about her ie year and area of birth etc parents name etc

When and where was she living when you were last in contact? That might help to narrow down options.

If she had been married previously then search using that surname. Might she have taken on a step-fathers surname?

As 40+ years is a long time to be out of contact, was the family separated by adoption? If so is Perks her birth or adopted surname?

Just a few things to consider ;-)

Yes you know about that as you have her children in your tree

Have you tried looking for them?

The daughter Pauline could have a tree on here

So as mum remarried did she have you all with her after the marriage or were you adopted

If you were adopted then you would need to know Jennifer's adopted name

Donald and Jennifer had the same father..... not mother

Donald's parents also married in 1958

Are you in contact with Jennifers brothers Philip and Richard?

Had a PM saying a relative, now deceased saw her in 1980 when she was married and had two boys . Her hubby was Nigerian

Not seeing any possible births for the boys BUT then not all Nigerians have ethnic surnames

Do we know what area was she seen in?

Gritty

Gritty Report 6 Dec 2014 17:39

Try searching for her with surname Randell (her Mother's married name)

I think she may have married under her mother's married name (randell) in 1975. She had two boys in 1976 and 1978.

I think you'll find the info easy enough, if you think this is correct I can send you her address.

Just received pm:

"Believed to have married in Birmingham or near by and as far as we know never strayed too far from her roots"

Above may not be correct then (as there was also a Jennifer R Randell born in 1952) - but worth looking at.

Hi all, looks like the"Randall" is a dead end.
You are all piecing together the threads that I have nicely.
The bottom line is that I have only discovered this year of the existence of siblings from my fathers first marriage.
Having found their names, with the exception of my oldest brother who is a Uk resident, I could not find my second brother or a marriage relating to my sister.
Having made contact with the eldest, I was able to also contact my other brother.
As for Jennifer, the on line birth record States Jennifer. R Perks born 1952. But for some reason they think it was Christine after her mother! The children were not adapted or fostered, instead they were brought up in Banardos. There is conflicting memories of where she was married, both brothers think it was in the Birmingham area, but this morning an external source has offered up London.
The fact that her husband was of Nigerian origin and that they had at least one boy and one girl, would only aid clarification, should a match be found.
Thank you all for your assistance and please let me know if you have any other suggestions.
