Thanks for your replies. I have Harolds death certificate as I was hoping that his daughter would have been named as the notifier of the death, but no !! I have now found that his wife Madge (nee Barnes) moved back to England and died in 1981, so I have ordered her death certificate hoping that Karen is named on her certificate and I can at least have her married name!! Its all about digging in the dark !!! Penny, yes, she retained the name Karen as her brother had contact with her for a couple of years after the adoption. I don`t know if it was a formal adoption. Harold was a distant relative of Karens birth mother..

Don't know if this helps at all

Saint Cloud
French pronunciation: ?[s?~'klu]) is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 9.6 km (6.0 mi) from the centre of Paris. Like other communes of the Hauts-de-Seine such as Marnes-la-Coquette, Neuilly-sur-Seine or Vaucresson, Saint-Cloud is one of the wealthiest cities in France, ranked 2nd out of the 36500 in average household income.[1]

Did she retain the name Karen? So she'll have become Karen Izzard ?

How do you know she was adopted by the Izzards?

Karen Ann Rowbotham born 1936, Surrey, UK, to Geoffrey Sidney Rowbotham and Ivy Vera Hood. Around the age of 8 she was adopted by Harold Izzard and Madge Barnes. They moved to France where Harold had a teaching post in Paris. Harold died in 1964 and I can find no further information. Does anyone have any info on Karen or have any idea how to find information in France please. Her brother, John Rowbotham is looking for her.
