+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Nov 2014 23:32

Welcome to the boards Stark. If you and the baby share a parent, you are half siblings

One of the easiest things to do is to look for a birth registration on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Is Snowdon your mum's maiden name or a married surname?
Children born to unmarried mothers tend to have their surname the same as their mother's maiden name. However there are no births in Hampshire 1943-1946 for a Snowdon child, mmn Snowdon.

Was your mother married to a Mr Moore at the time as there is a female Moore/Snowdon birth in Portsmouth in 1944.
Added - as posted by Nutcase. I was hesitant about adding details of a hopefully living person

If a woman is married, any child is assumed to be her husband's, even if he was dead!
One would normally expect to see a registration number including S if the child was adopted. There isn't in this case

You could add your name to the Adoption Contact Register and see what happens
https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

Make sure that your mum under her maiden name is on your tree in case your siblings comes looking. Also keep GR updated with your current email address even if you let your sub lapse. That way you can still be contacted off board

There is no marriage on freebmd for Irene Snowdon to Moore

Nutcase

please remove the birth details or your post may be reported

That person's mother was not named Irene. Why didn't you do some checking before invading her privacy?

I see that Irene married Stark's father in 1954

It looks like the birth of the half-sister may have been in 1941.........MMN transcribed as Snowdeon
