Cheers Argyll Gran.

Be assured, if I had more to go on, I would have gone on it! Thanks for the FR tip.

The Bristol connection is that in 1944 he sent a photo of himself (in an RAF group shot) to a girl he had met there in 1941/2. Presumably without his wife knowing...

I would normally assume he came from Bristol, but of course wartime messes up all that usual location stuff. His service number suggests he was called up in late 1939.

As I said, it's a long shot - hopefully one of his relatives might turn up here at some point!

Kind regards

Ian

Not really enough to go on, Ian, I'm afraid.

It's not an uncommon name; he could have been born or married anywhere.

The possible Bristol connection seems pretty tenuous - how and what do you know about it?

I don't suppose the William Bishop(s) listed here can be him - too late:

Hi There

A long shot, but I'm trying to track down anyone who knows anything about this man. All I know is...

He was a LAC in the RAF, and as part of his service ended up in Belgium by September 1944
His service number was 926051
He had some connection with Bristol in 1941/2 - possibly came from there? If not, was possibly posted there (Filton?)? Or spent a leave there?
He was believed to be married and had two children by the war's end.
He may have referred to himself as "Bill" or "Bish", rather than George
He did (as far as I can tell) survive the war.

Apart from that I know very little and no other hard facts.

DOB? No idea. Spouses name? No idea. Still with us? Don't know. But I assume his children may well be still around.

If you have any clues or ideas, please get in touch.

Kind regards

Ian
