Davis family from Preston

I would like to trace my first cousins once removed who used to live in Lorraine Avenue in Preston.

Their surname is DAVIS and their names are Linda, Hilary and George.
Linda may have been born in 1950, then Hilary a few years later, and George was the youngest. Does anyone know of them and where they are now?

Their father was Frederick Jenkinson Davis (called ERIC) and their mother was Doreen Isabelle Davis (nee ELLENS).

Thanks for any info you can give me as to my living relatives.

Do you know if their parents are still alive, and what their (parents) years of birth were?

Have you looked to see if they (children or parents) are in anyone's tree on here?

Thank-you

Added:
If you look on free bmd for their births I think you will find a slightly different birth order, and George appears to be Frederick G.

Hello
Thank you for your message.

I only know about Eric and that he was born in 1925 and died in 2005.

I searched for the names on the Family Trees but couldn't see anyone with their names. I know Linda was the eldest as she came to visit us and I have a photo of her, but I always thought George was the youngest. My grandfather's name was Frederick George, so it could be that young George was "Frederick George" but they called him George.

I have been researching my family tree and wondered if Linda, Hilary or George had any info that could help me in my search, but I would also like to meet them.

Kind regards
Sue

Have you thought of buying a copy of the 2005 death cert, to find out who the informant was, and the last address of the deceased

If you want help with research, you could always ask on here, making sure to tell us how far you have got so that duplicate research is avoided

Your cousins may have no interest in family history - very few people do

Frederick's death was registered in April 2006

If you have not now found their births, these look to be them:

Births Sep 1947
Davis Linda Ellens Preston
Births Jun 1949
Davis Frederick G Ellens Preston
Births Dec 1954
Davis Hilary D Ellens Preston 10f 457

and Hilary appears to be in a tree on genes. Suggest you try to contact the tree owner.

Also try and follow through her marriages.

Hi Jacqueline and Patchem

Thank you both for your messages.

Firstly to Jacqueline, I haven't sent for a copy of Eric's Death Cert as Eric divorced Doreen when the children were teenagers and re-married. His second wife was alive when he died so I think she would have registered the death and not Eric's children.

I started doing research on my family tree in 2012, but got stuck at my grandparents. I have my grandmother's Death Cert, but cannot find a Birth Cert for her.

My nephew's wife found a census for 1911 and discovered that they were "Boarders" in a house in Locks Heath in Hampshire.

My grandmother was Eliza Barnes who married my grandfather Frederick George Davis, but I cannot even find a marriage for them. Eliza died of Spanish Flu in 1918 and was buried in Galgate, Ellel. Frederick re-married 7 months later to Maud Mary Ellithorn.

The 1911 census shows that Eliza was 40 in 1911, so she was born in 1871 in Calne, Wiltshire. Frederick was showing as being born in Portsmouth in 1871. Their son William George was born in 1902 in Winchester, Hampshire. My mother was born in 1915 in Stafford and was aged 3 when her mum died so William (Billy as he was known) was my uncle and Eric was one of his 2 sons. I have both their Birth Certs.

Secondly, to Patchem - thank you for finding the birth info for Linda, George and Hilary. I must admit I was surprised that George was born in 1949 because I really thought he was about 5 years younger than me, but it looks like Hilary was just 3 years younger than me! I will look for the family tree where you suggest that I contact the owner - thanks for that. I did look at the trees on Genes Re-united but I searched for George Davis.

Kind regards

Sue

Hi Patchem

I searched for the tree on Genes Re-united where you mentioned Hilary is on it, but I couldn't find the tree as the results came back negative.

Hi Jacqueline

That is correct - my mum's birth was 6 January 1915 in Stafford, but the marriage between Maud and Frederick is his second marriage - his first marriage was to Eliza and that is the mariage I cannot find as Eliza was my mum's birth mother.

It's strange that I cannot find their marriage cert. I have a very old blury photo of Eliza and it does look like she's got a ring on her wedding finger, so I do believe they were married. She had my mum when she was 43, so not young. She doesn't look poor as her clothes look very nice. I don't think that she wouldn't have got married to Frederick.
Kind regards
Sue

Hello everyone

Thank you for your messages. I don't think my grandmother lied about her age as in a photo I have she is holding my mother as a tiny baby and she looks about 43. Her death certificate also shows she died aged 46 which was 3 years later and my mum always knew she lost her mother when she was only 3 years old.

Thank you anyway for searching for her birth certificate for me.

Kind regards
Sue
