Thanks for that Kay and Tess. I'm afraid I can't discuss this with her at the moment as she is not very well. When she is feeling better I will suggest that she applies for her adoption file.

Thanks for your help

I wonder if her first name was Margareita, or Margarita instead of Rita.

I am not sure how the Italian suurname system works. Perhaps not quite like ours in the UK.

Also she had perhaps travelled from Italy just to have her baby so that the birth could be kept a secret.

Perhaps leaving messages on other "trying to find" forums (spl) just saying that you would like to find Rita Maria Guiseppe who worked in Glendower Hotel., with no mention of her baby would be a good idea,

Good luck.

The only Rita M Di Giuseppe I can find was born in Pennsylvania and died in Pennsylvania in 2008. So Perhaps Rita wasn't her name.

Is it possible to find them on Immigration records? I would guess they came to England by Sea.

Thanks

If she wasnt English the she wont be on any electoral rolls as she wouldn't have any entitlement to vote

Hi Jane.
My only other thought is to be brave and try finding people who share this name, initially in London maybe. There are just a few on 192.com for example. They might not be related, but you never know.
I agree, the children to the above couple can be found on Freebmd, but not Rita. The best lead is the find by Shirley I think.
I wish you lots of luck with your quest - do let us know how you get on.

Hi Jan

As far as I know she came from Italy but cant proove that. It was just something my Mum told us. That she came fom Italy and was a single young Mum so had to give her baby up for adoption.

If she was born in England she should be on freeBMD but I cant find her. So I guess she does come from abroad somewhere. The only other way I thought I may be able to find her was on the electerol registers.

UNfortunately I do not think I have enough info on her to find her. Although I will keep trying.

Thanks for helping me

That's a very interesting find Shirley, well done.
There is an Ancestry family tree which I came across, having done a random search for all Di Giuseppes and variants in the London area. Father is Vincent Di Giuseppe and mother Adelina Filomena Mansi which might be tempting to connect - (Lioudina/Adelina??), but apart from Vincent they were all born London!

Thanks Shirley i'm getting the hang of it.

I don't know whether that is her or not But I will make a copy of the information and look into it a bit more. Its a shane I have so little to go on.

As I can't find any mention of her on FreeBMD so she either lied about her name, is still alive or has gone back home.

Thanks again

Jane.

No need to apologise Jane, it's just that it's difficult to know when to start without a bit more info and knowing the nature of the inquiry.
First things first - I assume your sister has accessed her adoption records so she has any possible info from them?

Jan Sorry I know very little about this lady. She was the birth mother of my sister. My sister was adopted in 1963. Rita worked at the Glendower Hotel in 1963.
I believe she came from Italy.

That is all I know about her. Sorry

Jane, for anyone to assist, you need to give an idea of when we are looking at, and what else you know - such as who she married, parents' names.
And please specify what you need by 'any info' as you must know some things already!
