Hi there,
My great uncle who we lost touch with, has a daughter and I would like to find her or any relatives asap, as my father is ill.

My great uncles info;
Charles William Smith
DOB 11th July 1911 (Hounslow)
Died 17th March 1987 (Chiswick)
On his death certificate was his daughter;
Linda Hamilton, living in Hounslow on 17th March 1987.

I would like to find when she was born, and the details of her mother.
I would also like to find when Linda married, and if she is alive..

I have searched birth records, and have two potentials that are in the hammersmith area as this is where my family are from;

Linda A Smith,
Hammersmith,
5B 1151
Sept 1965

Linda P Smith,
Hammersmith,
5C 1047
March 1949

but need to find out if my great uncles name is on the birth certificates to match this up..? can any one help with this or any of the above?

thanks nick

There's only one marriage for a Linda Smith to a Hamilton but it's in Cheshire, so Mr Hamilton was probably not Linda's first husband.

Try looking at old electoral rolls for the address you have for Linda to see who her husband was. This can be found at the nearest library to that address.

Both those births you posted will have mmn

Have you looked for a marriage for the surname combination to see if one may be Charles William

Actually on FreeBMD there are 14 Linda smith reg Hammersmith 1949 -1966

So you would need to spend time looking on FreeBMD for marriages for each couple

I have contacted the local libraries to help gather the electrol role for the adresses first, to gather more info.

I haven't searched for marriage for the surname combination.. how do i do that? Sorry I am not great at this..

Is there any way online of reading full birth, marriage certificates with all the details on? Any info much appreciated.. As there are lots of people, I need to read them to see if any relations are on this too..?
thanks nick

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

To see the info on certs, you have to buy copies................£9.25 each from the GRO

The MMN is on the index after 1911, so use the info about births to cross-refer with marriages for Smith, Charles W.

Do not enter the full second forename, or you will only get results up to 1911

Don't assume that the location of either event was Hammersmith.................... Marriages are usually in the bride's parish....................people re-locate for a variety of reasons.

The Electoral Roll for 1987 is probably your best bet at the moment, to determine who each of them was living with.

Is your DOB info for Charles based purely on the death cert?

Nicholas

Nicholas Report 23 Jun 2014 10:55

The DOB for Charles is 100%, as he was a twin with my dads father, I have birth certificates for my grandad and his brother. I have their fathers name and details too..

I would also like to find out when Charles married and his wife's details..and if they had any more children than just Linda. Would that be electrol role info searching again?

Yes understood location of wedding can change, but mostly my family have been in the hounslow/chiswick/hammersmith area..

thanks nick

OK, found the birth...............I was looking for one in Hounslow, as per your original post

Births Sep 1911 (>99%)

SMITH Charles W Meredith Fulham 1a 418
Smith Thomas A Meredith Fulham 1a 418

Follow the advice about how to search using freebmd...................it isn't difficult. it will, however, require time and patience

None of us can do anything that you can't, at the moment.

Historical ER's are searchable ONLY by address.........................

Hi all, the electrol role, has determined in ....that three people lived at the address in Hounslow;

''

''

So I am guessing her husband is James, and they have a child Jamie..

How do I go about trying to locate these three?

thanks nick
