Could you say where you have looked for them, so we do not duplicate any searches done?

Thank-you

JoonieCloonie Report 1 May 2014 15:42

if this is Albert's birth

Births Sep 1896
Leavitt Albert Edward Hackney 1b 541

then this appears to be his WWI attestation - search for his name here:

http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/military-heritage/first-world-war/first-world-war-1914-1918-cef/Pages/search.aspx

he was unmarried and listed his mother in Verdun as next of kin, but gave his birthdate as 1895, although he would have been old enough to enrol in Sept 1914
(also giving his middle name as Edwin is a very common phenomenon with the names Edward, Edwin, Edmund)

the Canadian telephone book on line

http://canada411.ca/

shows only 14 Leavitts in Quebec at present (although the families might not have stayed there)

so one could always write letters
