Sorry, Rose is correct the /s doesn't appear on earlier records. Thanks for pointing this out Rose - I didn't realise until I checked a couple of adoptions!

Make sure you have your mother's name in your tree. If he starts searching, her name is the first thing he will try. I don't see it on this site.

Edit: I see you have her listed with a different spelling to her birth, marriage and death.

How do you know he was adopted? What is the source of your info?

The S suffix only appears from the early 60s.

Hi Denis

Have you confirmed he was officially adopted? - it's just the birth index is usually amended with /s and his is not. A copy of his full birth certificate would be marked as adopted if it was an official adoption.
