Olive might also have lived in a long partnership and her death could have been registered in her partner's surname; this was not uncommon in an era when divorce was difficult and expensive.

The recommendation that you get her birth certificate to know her exact date of birth and full given names is the one to follow. The deaths index at Ancestry can be searched with those facts alone without a surname. For one thing, a birth registered in early 1926 could have occurred in late 1925, so you might have inaccurate info to be getting on with, to start with.

A tentative death to consider that would match the birth info (born very late in 1925, birth registered in early 1926) would be

Name: Olive Eileen Saunders
Birth Date: 23 Dec 1925
Date of Registration: Nov 1998
Age at Death: 72
Registration District: Maidstone
Inferred County: Kent
Register Number: A76C
District and Subdistrict: 5691A
Entry number: 177

first, no Olive E Saunders was born in Dec 1925

There are a few marriages of Olive E to Saunders that would fit someone born in 1925:
1945 Surrey
1948 Birmingham
1949 Cardiff
1970 Isle of Wight
1978 Essex

There is no match for any of the brides to a birth in Dec 1925 ... the first three were not likely remarriages of someone born in 1925 unless of course there had been a husband killed in the war, but the two later ones could be ... but none was in the immediate vicinity of the death ...

If and when you can identify Olive's death, the death certificate may have been signed by a member of her family or her partner's family, if that was the case.

Deciding what to do with such information would be a delicate matter and many people recommend getting professional support for doing this.

If you get her birth certificate for exact date of birth, you can then search for deaths just using her first names.

As you can see by my replies I wasn't aware at the time we were talking about an adoption so my look ups were done in good faith

It would be very unwise for the daughter to attempt to make contact.

The lady's current family may have no knowledge of her, and it could cause considerable distress.

In which year was the daughter born?

And has she added herself to the national adoption contact register?

That would be her best option.............
