Thanks for the guidance, much appreciated! The Adoption Contact Register sounds like a good place to start.

Hi Wil

As you have given your friend's date of birth, it would be wise to edit your post to remove his adoptive name. The details provided, even with his permission, could lead to identity fraud.

Has he obtained his adoption file? Any clues about the father there?
Has he traced his Aunt Jean?
If there is nothing on the adoption file and maternal relatives are deceased, he might never know.
As an adopted out child, he may not have the right to request Violet's WW2 service records, but it's worth a try...but only if he knows that she is deceased.

He could add his name to the Adoption Contact Register and hope that birth family knows of him and are actively seeking to make contact

Hi. I am posting on behhalf of a friend who is trying to trace his biological Father.

He was born Bruce Connors in 1945 at the Simpson Memorial Hospital in Edinburgh. His Mother was Violet Christina Connors, a leading aircrafts woman at Dalcross in Ayrshire during WW2. He was then adopted 1945 and his name was changed to Victor Alexander Wilson.

His Mother had a Sister named Jean Connors, and her parents were Francis Connors and Mary Cormack. We believe his parents were both in other relationships at the time. His Mother later had a family and he is in touch with a half Brother. However, no one on that side of the family left alive knows who his Father was.

We have assumed that his Father must have also been posted at Dalcross at this time and his half Brother has visited Kew and obtained a list of names who were posted at Dalross during the war. However, we currently have no way of narrowing the list down.

If anyone has any further information or suggestions, we would be very grateful to hear from you.

Wil
