Hi Deborah,

The first thing you need is to access your original birth certificate and adoption file - there should be some background as to why you were placed for adoption, sometimes the fathers name (if known) is contained within the file. This can be accessed free by filling in the application form available here:

https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/accessing-your-birth-records

Good luck!

Presumably you have been adivsed to add your name and that of your other birth relatives to the adoption contact register. Have you done that?

Another site is
http://www.missing-you.net/

If you were thinking of tracing your ancestors, then at least you can get details about your mother's side and then work further back. You may even find some maternal aunts/uncles or cousins if she has siblings.

If you are in contact with your mum has she given you any info

We can't help other than giving you your birth reg detail so you can get a copy of your birth cert

Hi

Yes my mother was unmarried at the time. I have asked woolwich court and there is no info on my adoption file.

I have tried all options and have been searching for years, my hope is that someone might be looking for me.

Thank you

Deborah

Looks as though your mother wasn't married at the time as her maiden name is also Pratt.

Hi Shirley

I only have my adoption certificate, I have contact with my birth mother and have posted on this site looking for my birth father and half siblings with no results. I have just put my info on today, just I case someone is looking for me.

Many thanks

Deborah
