Thanks for all the info - I have ordered the certificates for the marriage and death of Viola Giddings. If this turns out to be 'my' Viola then I'll try the solicitor and Anthony Beacham.

Anthony Beacham may not have been the sole heir, but at least he is a starting point.

One of our distant relatives died intestate - a probate research company found about 10 heirs on her maternal side alone. All but one signed up - the one who decided to claim without the research company's services is named on the London Gazette entry. There are no other entries for the deceased.

Anthony is listed on the 2013 ER in Deal, and his contact details are on http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/

Rather than phone, a carefully worded letter is in order. It will give him time to consider his reply and consult other family members.

I shall send for the death certificate and see if that leads me anywhere - I do hope her daughter is the informant!

I am looking for the daughter of Viola. Viola married Andrew Thomas Farmer in April 1941 (and married Clifford Holmes in 1949). Both marriages took place at the Kensington Register Office, so I'm assuming their daughter was born in London (sometime around 1941-42).

As far as I know Viola and Andrew only had one child (my only cousin). On looking through my Mum's old photo's etc I found a letter which refers to Viola and Andrew's daughter - no name though!

I have ordered several birth certificates, with no luck!

Any help, or just a point in the right direction, would be very much appreciated.
