David Report 10 Oct 2013 17:58

I am trying to trace decendants of the Reverend Frederick Clark from Newport in Monmouthshire. Revd Clark was a minister in the Forward Movement Presbytarian Church of Wales and former miinister of the Presbytarian church in LLanhilleth and also worshipped at the Curch at the central Hall in Newport.

Frederick had at least two brothers , Robert and James. James at one time lived in Ivor Street Newport, and his other brother at one time lived in Canal street. Frederick had at least two nephews, John and Fred Clark.

I am not entirely sure of what my familly connection to the Clarks is but my Grandfater Albert Pocock was named in Frederick's will, and inherited, along with his brothers and sisters.

Any information would be gratefully recieved

David :-)

Did the Will name any descendants?

Unless he married, one would hope he didn't have any................

Whose 'brothers and sisters'? Clark's...........or Pocock's?

Have you tried looking for info?

Is this the one?

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966
Name: Frederick Clark
Probate Date: 2 Oct 1935
Death Date: 3 Aug 1935
Death Place: Monmouthshire, Wales
Registry: London, England

Died in Scotland.................Probate granted to two male engine drivers named Clark

Unlikely that he had any descendants.

The Will should state what prompted him to leave a bequest to your grandfather.............

Many thanks for your support both of you.

Shirly, Unfortunately I dont think this is the correct Frederick Clark.

Reggie thanks. I have already located his death cert and the probat report for his will, as yet I have not managed to locate a copy of his will, but yes this is the Frederick Clark I am looking for. I do however have a copy of the accounts that shows how his estate was split , and this show both his brothers and my grandfathers brothers and sisters as beneficaries.

The search goes on. I am now going to try the church movement (one serviving branch in Wales) that he was a member of and the theological college he should have trained at!

As Probate was granted in London, download form PA1S from the following link

https://hmctsformfinder.justice.gov.uk/HMCTS/GetForm.do?court_forms_id=739

Complete it with the details found on the Probate Calendar image and send it with a £6 cheque/money order to the address on the form - from memory its in York. Depending on the turn around, you should have a copy of the full Will and Probate by Christmas, probably before
