Arthur Barnett was a relative of my husband's grandmother. He appears on the 1901 census when he was living in Leytonstone. He emigrated to New Zealand and I would love to find out more about him and his family if anyone has any information.
Brenda.

Thank you.
I have searched everywhere I can think of. I believe he was in the merchant navy before emigrating. Family legend has it that he and his brother Frederick visited New Zealand while in the navy, loved it so much they decided to emigrate, but when they returned to the UK Fred's wife would not go, but Arthur and his wife still decided that they would.

Sorry, I meant looking for matches with other members' trees?
Are you trying to find out what happened in NZ or England? If NZ I would put that in your heading.

I have tried matches with other trees but cannot find any. I assume that the family stayed in New Zealand, as we were in contact with his brother Fred in Leytonstone until his death, and no mention was ever made of Arthur being back in the UK

Hi Brenda,

Any idea what line of work Arthur was in - did he have a trade?

Sorry Sappho, no idea what Arthur did for a living after he left the Merchant Navy. I don't remember him being mentioned when we visited his brother Fred.
