Hi
Thanks for prompt replies I have advised her to photo copy what documents she has - seemingly a record of her adoption location -and write to the Adoptions Section address from the government web site -is that the best option ?

The adoption papers may provide additional info..............although, as she knows her mother's first name, it must be assumed that she has some paperwork already

Welcome to the boards, Pat.

As Shirley has said, she needs to obtain as much information as possible, starting with her birth certificate and adoption papers.

(Particularly as there were 2 Marlene Rutherfords born a year apart in, possibly, similar circumstances in the North East.)
