I asked how old your father was on the marriage cert, but you sent me the year of the marriage.

You have him born in 1946 in your tree - was that just a guess?

Any possibility that he was born elsewhere and moved to Salford as a child?

Other members have Alfred Gilmores born in both Scotland and Ireland.

On the marriage information Alfred has no middle initial, but on free bmd the only birth between 1935 and 1950 is in Liverpool in 1948 is for Alfred E. (Father also appears to be Alfred not William)

There is an Alfred Gilmore in 1918, Liverpool.

You can use free bmd to look for births and marriages of Alfred and William, both throughout the country, and narrowing your search to Lancashire and Cheshire regions.

Or remember my mother. My name is donna Maria Gilmore. Also my father was a glazier, his father was called William Gilmore he worked as a foreman at a Haulage contractors.
