My cousin is living in South Africa, and I would love to help him find his birth mother, so maybe she can shed some light on his adoption, as both our father's died some time ago. Thanks :-) :-)

Hi everyone, I am VERY new to all this. My cousin from my father's side of the family was born in Northern Rhodesia when it was under British law in 1961. In 1964 the record office there was burnt down. My cousin was adopted by British parents, and we suspect his father is his real father(my father's brother). He came back to the UK many times as a child on his adopted mother's passport.
Questions-
1. Is he allowed a British passport, and if so how does he obtain one?
2. How can we find his birth mother who moved to South Africa with an unknown address; we do have her name, but nothing else?
Many thank for your help and time in advance, and I hope I have posted in the right place with questions that maybe able to be answered.
Kind regards
Karen
