THANK YOU!! ....[Love your profile photo!!]

No, no middle name. Her brother in law confirms her birthday as September 1946. [near the end of the first two weeks]
I will take your advice, and search for siblings, although from her brother in law, I understand that she broke all contact with her family when she was fostered.
It is very unlikely that she would now be in Scotland, although I am keeping an open mind. I will pass on the link for missing you.net.
I am very grateful to you.

Does the marriage certificate give her a middle name to help search for further marriages?

You say that she must be about 67 which implies a yob of around 1946. Was this a wild guess, or did you back work it from the age given on Ian's MC?

Any idea where she was born? If we can track her birth, we might find siblings. She may have kept in contact with them or they may have more up-to-date information for her. If you think she was Scottish, then any records would be on Scotlandspeople which as you probably know is pay to view

With the information you have, use the 'search' function to search all trees for a Catherine Young b 1946 +/- 2 and contact any tree owners who list a person of that name.

Added - If she hasn't already, Fiona could post an entry on http://www.missing-you.net/

First of all, a huge THANK YOU to the senders of the replies!!
Cathy stated that her parents were deceased at the time of her marriage. I have a copy of the marriage certificate. She married Ian, her Foster brother. I am in touch with another Foster brother, who now lives outside the UK. He was a witness at the wedding, and has no information of her after the seperation.
I have a copy of their divorce papers. Cathys whereabouts were unknown at that time. We do not know of any second name..
I have a copy of her parents marriage certificate. I understand that Cathy was estranged from her birth family, and did not have contact with her family after she was fostered.. Will my posting this information somehow connect me to any trees she may be connected to? How can I go about doing this. Sorry, but I am a beginner.

You need to know when - and where -she was born.....and if she had more than one forename

The marriage cert would be a worthwhile investment, as it would include parents' names..................and there may be someone else on GR with these people in a tree

Does Fiona know when they were divorced?

Has Fiona got the marriage certificate for any more information about Cathy?

Thanks.

Cathy was married to Ian Phillips who was in the Royal Military Police. They were married in Fife, Scotland.
I baby-sat for their daughter, Fiona when we all lived in Singapore around 1964/5.
I understand that Cathy and Ian seperated around 1975/6, and Ian had the children live with him in the north of Scotland. Cathy went to live in England, and has not been in touch with any family members since that time.
Her daughter Fiona has searched for her mother for many years, and I would like to help if I can.
Whether Cathy has re-married and changed her name is unknown. She must be aged around 67yrs.
Please, can anyone offer any advice? Even the name of any town she has lived in may help.
Thank you very much,
Eileen Gard
