Does it seem too obvious to suggest that you ask your father................or are you estranged from him?

Do you know for certain that Grainge was the lady's maiden name?

There are no births matching the surname info

Just wondering if that 1979 marriage is someone else? Is it likely he married in OND quarter 1979, then again in AMJ quarter 1980??

Far too quick for a divorce, unless Josephine died or the marriage was annulled.

Well, there is no birth that I can see for a Josephine Grainge, however there is a Grainge/Harvey marriage in Grimsby 1973, and 2 Grainge/Harvey children 1973 & 1976. There is also a birth for Josephine Harvey in Nottingham in the right quarter of 1956. I don't want to post the details on here as it is too recent, but there is also a possible re-marriage for the first husband, in 1984 Grimsby.

If you can't find these details let me know & I'll PM you. However, you will find both children are as you've previously stated but both have second names.

However, without some certificates to back this up or some more family knowledge it is speculation at the moment.

Buy the death cert..............if the deceased was married, it will name her husband.

They barely had time to produce a child.................certainly not a legitimate one

And the name GRAINGE on the 1979 marriage record is not necessarily the woman's maiden name. All you can say for sure is that it was the name she was known by at the time.

The marriage cert cert would confirm if it's the right man...........and give the woman's father's name

You are going to have to get some certs if you are to unravel this with any degree of accuracy
