Hopefully one of those resident in Australia will see this and help.

When, for FH research reasons, I was looking for a death c1996, I was told that there wasn't a searchable central registry. Instead, I was told to look for cemetary records in the area/State they were last known to live.

If you know where they died, it might help you to look on the internet for 'death certificates' and the name of the State to see how to go about ordering a copy, if that is allowed. Australia has different privacy laws than the UK, and their DC contain quite detailed information about living descendents.

Couldn't see a match on the Ryerson index for John.

Some more information would be helpful.

Thank you all for your interest. I am sorry to be so vague. I think John Graham Horton was born in the London area - or home counties. He married Evelyn Helen Hannah Needham in England in 1959. They had two sons - Christopher John Horton and Graham Simon Horton in 1960 and 1964 and now the rest of the family cannot find any trace of any of them. There is a rumour that the two sons went to live in Australia - but unfortunately no state was mentioned. It is pretty certain that John died in 1992 - but the mystery remains as to where he died as no trace in the UK records. Maybe his wife came back to the UK after his death. It may of course be totally wrong and New Zealand could be where they went. So sorry to use up your time on such a hopeless investigation. Thanks again.
