Hi, i was hoping someone could help me out. I want to get in contact with a cousin who i originally thought as a step cousin, but after ordering her birth certificate it would seem she is in fact a blood relative.

I wont post any names, but if someone can help can you please PM me.

As you are probably aware, there are no Free ERs. People who wish to access them usually have to pay to view or purchase credits.

There are a number of work-arounds, but as you have been able to purchase the BC, this indicates that she is of a marriagable age....unless you knew the exact dob to start with.

You will need to check if she married - BMD are on this site and other subscription ones assuming she could have married in the last 25 years or so. Freebmd would probably take you up to about 1950.

Check for her name on the following sites for free previews
https://www.livingrelativesearch.co.uk/
This will give you a partial address

http://www.192.com/?gkw=192+com
Using her name and the post code for the partial address.

http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.content/en/index.publisha
Using part of the address - possible town and/or post code and if married, the husband's initials.

If she is of the younger generation, try Facebook, Friendsreunited and other social networking sites.

And don't forget to search trees on this site!!!

Hi,

I'm relatively new to GR and just used the above 3 ways (suggested by DetEcTive) to find an address and got it immediately! I'd found the people on 192.com but didn't want to buy credits as I wasn't sure if I would use them all. I'm now going to write to the people to see if they can help me take my family search any further forward.

Oh, and I'm going to 'watch' this thread because I won't remember what to do if I ever need it again!....

Thanks for the help!...

Eleanor
