If the DOB is on the death record, that means that the woman's maiden name will be recorded on the death cert, along with her POB.

Hi Rebecca, welcome to the Genes boards.
If it were me, I would get that death cert. The chances of this being someone else are pretty remote I think. It will give you the name and address of the informant etc. I did this for a relative with a pretty common name (Denis Powell), even though the death was St. Helens rather than Birmingham which was what we expected, based on his birth date. It turned out to be right.!
Good luck.

Hello all,

I am a totall novice at this so sorry if I make a few faux pas. I am searching for anybody that may be related to, or can tell me any information about, my fathers birth mother. My father was born in Ross road Croydon Oct 1943 I have since learnt that this was a mother and baby home. His Mother was Gladys Vera Thresher born 1922 in Portsmouth. She married a E Lennard and then remarried a George Miller at a later date, still in Portsmouth area as far as I can ascertain. I have found a deat cert for a Gladys Vera Miller with the same birth date as Gladys Vera Thresher but this is in herts area so not sure if the same one. I have contacted all people that have her in their family tree but have not had a response. I know this is a potentially sensitive issue and understand there may be some reluctance to make contact, or they may not even know of my fathers existence but I now have a young family myself and feel there are a lot of gaps in our family history.Any help or advice would be really appreciated.
Many thanks
Rebecca.
