Do you know if she married?

Try looking for a marriage on freebmd

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Then if you find one, use the same site to look for children

And when you ask for help, please remember that 'please' is a good idea

Thank you for your reply......I have Dorothy's Birth certificate but I am sad to say she was adopted soon after her birth and she had two other siblings she may never have been aware of.
My Father Wilfred (deceased) was one of her Brothers
I am mortified not to have included the word please, in my request for help, an unintended ommision!
Kind regards
Pat Girvan

All is forgiven...........lol!

As she was adopted, the only realistic chance you have of tracing her is if she has added herself to the adoption contact register, in an effort to trace her birth family

Have you checked to see whether anyone else on GR has the name in his/her tree?

Find the dropdown under 'search' , and click on 'search all trees'

Unfortunately, official adoption records only started in 1927 so unless she was told of her past and name she may never have known her original name or anything about her family.

Thank you Flip for getting in touch.......I know it is a very long shot being as Dorothy was adopted, it seems sometimes we have to let things slip into the past.
Also sometimes it becomes too late when we discover some missing relatives.
Kind regards
Pat

Hi Pat,

As Reggie said, your only real hope is putting your name and her details on the adoption contact register - that way if she had looked or was looking for relatives they may be able to put you in touch with her family. But in view of the time passed, it is very unlikely you will have much success.
