Was he born in the N Ireland ? if so his birth will not show on ancestry, do you have a copy of the marriage cert ? if so this will give his age and also state if he has a middle name I can take a look at the elec roll for you then.

Free bmd gives 2 Alex* McDonnell's born between 1930 and 1940 in England and Wales, in 1932 and 1935.
So any deaths found not corresponding to those births could be him.
This is why it would be useful to have a more exact birth date, and middle name if there is one.
I will post this death found, just so you have the information:

You said you thought he would be about 74, so born 1938 approximately?
Is this information from the marriage certificate?
Does he have a middle name?
Any idea of area of England?

I have recently found out that he moved to England circa 1967, but dont really know how to search from him from there, any tips would be greatly apreciated

Have you looked on here in 'search all trees' - it's hidden these days..........under the 'search' button

Have you got the marriage cert? It will tell you his declared age....and father's details, which may help you to 'pin him down'

I have been looking for 26 years for any info on my birth father, but to no avail, his name is Alexander McDonnell, he was married to Muriel Ann Nichols in Belfast. He would be roughly 74 by now. If anyone has any information on him or his family PLEASE get in touch. :-D
