It might be better if you use the Search Trees box above to find people with James Muscat in their trees.
You can then click on their names and attempt to contact them through genes.

What a pity that you didn't take a note of the number when the daughter rang you

Do you recall her 1st name? She is probably married, but there can't be too many Muscat births/marriages!

There is a James Muscat on the electoral rolls 1959-61 at 41 Tytherton Road, Islington North, N19.

1959/60: Charles/James/Jean/Stella
1961: James/Jean/Stella

Although I don't know if this is the right family, it's the only one I can see.

If the above is connected to the same family, there are 2 probate entries in 1963 - both died in Kent on the M2 motorway, 29/6/1963. Both of 41 Tytherton Road.

Maria Stella Muscat, probate to Harry Vincent Michael Muscat (chef) and Ernest James Muscat (PO Engineer), £595.16s (born c1900)

Carmelo Muscat (Charles?) probate to same, effects £6206.12s (born c1902)

There is also the option of contacting some Muscats in Essex, as you believe his daughter lives there. If you check 192.com, there are 59 in total. 3 come up as a free search, complete with addresses and telephone numbers. No guarantees but worth a try, as the name is so unusual.
Apart from those three you could look at telephone directories for the relevant areas. A trawl but worth it if you are determined.

The ERs only go up to the mid 1960s on Ancestry, so I've no idea if the James Muscat at the Islington address was still there in the 70s. You've said he was from Malta, but haven't given any idea of his age?

The Charles posted at the address was actually Carmelo, who, I believe, was from Malta and was nationalised in 1950 according to Nat Archives website. I'm wondering if Charles & Stella could be your mans parents? You say you've been looking for a long time, so sometimes it's worth going sideways - try to locate other possible family.

If im to believe whats the woman who phoned me claiming to be his daughter said then her her dad & mum came from Malta & were living here in north london area, but i understood as a child he came here to work & sent trucks coaches ect back to Malta but his close family( wife & children were all in Malta).. hence the confussion as to where they lived..
He would be in his 80s now & from what i was told he was born in Malta.
