I am looking for a child given up for adoption in the late 1950s, I think it was a boy. His birth mother would have been PATRICIA MILES.

I have no other information but if this sounds familiar to anyone please contact me as I am a half sister to this adopted person.

Many thanks

Add your details to the adoption contact register

Does Patricia know you have posted her name on this insecure site?

Surely the mother knew what she named the baby?

And the child's gender!

This seems odd.........

How is it odd,?

Rita may be the daughter of the biological father and he may have been given limited information at time.?

Also many **minor** birth mothers never knew the sex of thier child or what name/s it had been given if any! the law requires a birth to be registered sex,,,,,.dates and where and who gave birth to the child ,,,,a birth parent isnt required by law to register a birth.

1950s the age of majority was 21,till then their parent/s could take over all control without question.!

The mother should know where she gave birth. Then get in touch with norcap and as Reggie says Adoption contact register. If you know area we could narrow it down quite a bit

I have no information where this child was born or a name given, although I am trying to narrow down some areas. I also have no information where my mother was born for definite, she told me Ancoats, Manchester, and that she was adopted by the Miles family. From the little my mum told me I think (but not totally sure) they were extended family.

Presumably the child would have been born as a Miles, MMN Miles.
Do you know where your mother was living in the late 50's?

Hi Rita,

A hard one but possibly a name that was in her adoptive family at that time ,,,,,,after an uncle, father or even a brother?

I think you need to track down her family if you are going to pursue this. Someone might know something, often happens in families, which will offer a clue.

I think you are right. I was in the middle of doing that when I found out about the adoption of the baby.
