yes I have located a birth reacord, but not sure if it is the right person. I dont work so cant go ordering certs unless I am sure.

Yes, unless you are very fortunate and find a newspaper announcement. Certs cost £9.25 and can be ordered online:

www.gro.gov.uk

Have you located the birth record? I am wondering how you have come by this person in the first place. Don't give too much away on here! Just in general terms.

Thank you Jan. How much do they cost? Do I have to go to the registry office to get it? Im new to all this. Would that be the only way I could find out the mothers name?

Birth cert will give mother's full name, and usually father's.

Im trying to find a Theresa Welch from Nechells in Birmingham, who may have had a son called Mark in 1972 or possibly twins.Will a birth certificate give me the mothere 1st name?
